Mountain Biking
An island without traffic lights, with miles of dedicated pathways winding through natural bushland and iconic wildlife and flora, there is no where better to ride a bike than on Phillip Island.
We have designed three iconic routes, each a little more challenging than the last. Our introductory ride starts from Newhaven, crosses over to Churchill Island and a glimpse of our colonial heritage before winding through the sleepy seaside hamlet of Newhaven.
A more advanced option is to traverse through the natural bushland of the Oswin Roberts reserve where Koala sightings are possible, but sightings of hawks, lizards and wallabies are almost guaranteed. Stunning views of the Rhyll wetlands and mangroves from Conservation Hill will round off this unique ride through nature.
For the really fit we have a challenging route along the George Bass coastal trail, which runs from Punchbowl to Kilcunda. Steep hills, strong winds and dramatic views make this a must try for the advanced rider.
For those who want to explore other areas by bike, we can also offer guided rides of Cowes, the Gurdies, along the Wonthaggi rail trail, summerland peninsula or a tour of Westernport. With a well maintained fleet of quality bikes and helmets, we can show your group the fun of life in the not so fast lane. All rides are led from start to finish by a guide skilled in bike repair and level two first aid.
All our activities are fully insured and comply with all necessary guidelines as set out by the Education department and the AAS. All lead instructors have community surf life saving certificates and level two first aid. Children's checks are mandatory for all Outthere staff
