Activities these sessions include:
• surf awareness and beach safety talk
• advice and assistance for managing the group in and out of the water for your staff.
Instructors our instructors all have their Surf Rescue Bronze as well as a current First Aid Certificate. They have had recent experience at the beach your group is swimming at and can rescue the participants should the need arise.
Equipment our lifeguards have on hand at all times: a mobile phone, rescue board, a yellow lycra singlet, whistle and a first aid kit.
Locations at any beach that is suitable for swimming (subject to conditions on the day) and is classed as a type 2 venue (refer to ‘Guidelines for Outdoor Adventure Activities’ by the Dept. of Education).
What staff need to bring the staff accompanying the group will need their own personal gear, some spare warm clothing, and be dressed so they are ready to assist in a rescue.
• You need to provide a list of the names of all participants in the activity for use by the instructor : this list should include a summary of any relevant medical information that instructors should be aware of.
Ratios the recommended ratios for life guarding are 1 instructor/group leader to 25 students, or better
